Zelensky on sanctions against Poroshenko: billions were withdrawn through charitable funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the reason which prompted the imposition of sanctions by the National Security and Defense Council was the withdrawal of billions of hryvnias from Ukraine during the military conflict. He expressed surprise that previously financial monitoring had found nothing, but now the authorities show billions. These statements by Zelensky were made during his visit to the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.
Zelensky also reported that he possesses information about money laundering schemes through charitable funds claiming to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but in fact the funds are being redirected for the needs of political parties. He emphasized that individuals who have come under sanctions can return the withdrawn funds to the state budget. In this case, the sanctions will be lifted and the money will be redirected to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to presidential decree No. 81/2025, sanctions were imposed against Ihor Kolomoyskyi, Kostiantyn Zhevaho, Hennadiy Boholyubov, Petro Poroshenko, and Viktor Medvedchuk.
