President Zelenskyy's Remarks on the Russian War

According to UATV: In an interview with the Financial Times, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the war with Russia has entered a phase he described as 'the beginning of the end'. He urged the United States not to fall for the negotiation 'games' of Russian President Vladimir Putin, stressing that any ceasefire without legally binding security guarantees would only give Moscow time to regroup its forces. This stance reflects Kyiv's deep-seated concerns about Russia's historical pattern of using talks to rearm.

Zelenskyy expressed skepticism about Russia's seriousness in wanting to end the conflict, remarking:

“The Russians are only playing games and have no serious intention of stopping the war”
(Volodymyr Zelenskyy). He added: 'Frankly, I do not believe that this is all Russia wants.' The Ukrainian President emphasized the need for caution, pointing out that 'our exit from Donbas — and then the war will end? Russia is Russia, and you know it cannot be trusted.'

A Planned Three-Way Meeting

Amid these statements, a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia is being planned. Stanislav Zhelikhovsky, an international affairs expert, has also commented on the situation, though his views were not included in this report.

President Zelenskyy's comments highlight Ukraine's growing apprehension about potential negotiations with Russia that may fail to deliver a stable peace. The emphasis on legally binding security guarantees underscores Kyiv's determination to avoid repeating the history of past agreements that failed to provide adequate protection. The anticipated three-way meeting will be a critical juncture in determining the next steps toward resolving the conflict and could shape the level of continued international support for Ukraine.
