President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy
New Attacks and the Need for Enhanced Defense
President Zelenskyy also reported a new wave of attacks by the Russian Federation across Ukraine. Strikes targeted a city hospital in Zaporizhzhia and the Sumy region, where one person was killed and six were wounded. Further attacks were recorded on a railway depot in Konotop, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Poltava regions. In total, 129 attack drones were launched, a significant portion of which were 'Shahed' models.
The President emphasized the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine's defensive capabilities: “The Russian army is not preparing to stop—they are preparing to fight further. In reality, only our strength works to protect life. Air defense for Ukraine, support packages, and holding Russia accountable are mandatory prerequisites for protecting life. There must be security for there to be peace.”
The tragedy in Bohodukhiv underscores the continuing threat posed by Russian attacks on civilian objects in Ukraine, raising serious concerns for population safety. The President's calls for bolstering defense reflect the reality of ongoing hostilities within the country and the critical need for international support to ensure a peaceful and secure life for Ukrainians. These events reiterate the vital importance of enhancing air defense systems and preserving human life under the conditions of war.
