Zelensky commented on the massive shelling of Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reacted to the attack carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. He stated that the main target of the Russian Federation was the energy sector.
Since morning, there have been reports from the commander of the Air Force, as well as from the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Energy, regarding the consequences of the Russian strike. The target is our energy sector.
Zelensky reported that Russia launched about 100 strike drones and 90 missiles of various types. Attacks were also carried out with "Kalibrs" using cluster munitions on civilian infrastructure in several regions.
These cluster munitions complicate the work of rescuers and energy workers when dealing with the aftermath of the strikes, indicating a vile escalation of Russian terrorist tactics.
The President noted that all regions have the necessary forces involved and points of resilience have been deployed. He thanked everyone who is assisting in restoring energy supply.
Zelensky emphasized that these attacks prove the necessity of air defense systems in Ukraine, especially in winter, when the infrastructure must be protected from Russian strikes.
We are constantly working with our partners to have more forces for protection and to ensure timely supply of the most necessary air defense equipment.
Russia carried out an attack on Ukraine on the night of Thursday, November 28. As a result, emergency power outages were implemented, leading to over 500,000 people in Lviv region being left without electricity.
Debris from missiles was also reported to have fallen in several areas of Kyiv. As a result of the attack, there are injuries and damaged buildings in Volyn and Vinnytsia regions.
Earlier that same day, the Russian army launched a missile strike on Sumy region, affecting the infrastructure of Shostka community. The consequences of the attack are currently being assessed.
