Zelensky discusses free trade agreement with the USA: zero tariffs and investments.
Discussion of the free trade agreement with the USA
According to ТСН: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is in negotiations regarding a free trade agreement with the United States. This will be part of a broader recovery program for the country after the war.
In an interview with a news agency, Zelensky noted that the agreement will entail the elimination of tariffs on trade with the USA and will encompass several industrially developed regions of Ukraine. This will give Ukraine 'very serious advantages' compared to neighboring countries and attract investments and business.
Zelensky emphasized that the discussions on the details of the agreement will need to be conducted directly with President Donald Trump. He also added that this agreement will serve as an additional guarantee of economic security for Ukraine.
The President spoke with reporters after receiving a report from the head of the Ukrainian negotiating group, Rustem Umerov, who recently conducted telephone negotiations with Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
It is worth noting that Zelensky has also recently announced the readiness of a security guarantees agreement with the USA to be signed at the highest level.
This free trade agreement could become a key moment in Ukraine-U.S. relations, especially in the context of the country's economic stability in the post-war period. The implementation of the project could significantly increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian business in the international arena and contribute to attracting new investments into the economy.
