Ukrainian President Meets with NATO Secretary General
According to Novyny.live: On February 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The primary focus of their discussion was the expansion and future development of the PURL program, specifically the potential for Ukraine to purchase missiles for its air defense systems. During the talks, the partners confirmed the allocation of €38 billion in military aid to Ukraine. This substantial funding underscores the alliance's commitment to supporting Ukraine's defense against ongoing aggression.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated, 'Ukraine deeply values the contribution of every nation. We are counting on the continued expansion of this initiative, which enables the procurement of missiles for air defense systems.'
The President also expressed gratitude to Rutte for the meeting, emphasizing the importance of sustained support: 'Thank you, Mark, for the meeting and your constant support. I am grateful for the productive meeting in the 'Ramstein' format.'
The Importance of International Support
This meeting highlights the critical role of international backing for Ukraine amidst the prolonged military conflict. It also focuses attention on the urgent need to strengthen the nation's defensive capabilities. As threats from the aggressor intensify, military assistance and new arms deliveries become vital for ensuring Ukraine's national security. The PURL program is a key NATO mechanism designed to facilitate such urgent acquisitions.
