According to UATV: The 56th World Economic Forum in Davos concluded on January 23, 2023, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivering a key message. He stressed that U.S. participation is vital for any effective security guarantees for Ukraine, asserting that without American support, such guarantees would be ineffectual. This statement formed a central theme in the forum's discussions on international backing for Ukraine, which has been a focal point of global diplomacy since Russia's full-scale invasion.

Prior to his address, Zelenskyy held a meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump that lasted approximately one hour. Their conversation centered on support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war, with Trump expressing his hope for the conflict to end.

Addresses from Global Leaders

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also spoke at the forum, urging the international community to sustain its support for Ukraine. He noted that Moscow is a primary adversary not only to Kyiv but to the entire Alliance. Finnish President Alexander Stubb emphasized the need to increase economic pressure on Russia, arguing that Russia shows no desire to end the war, as doing so would come at too high a political cost for Vladimir Putin.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz shared his perspective on the situation, stating that the world order is facing collapse. He underscored that Europe must develop the capacity to defend itself independently.

“Thus, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, key issues regarding Ukraine's security and the necessity of international support, particularly from the United States, are being discussed.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The participation of these world leaders in the discussions highlights the sustained global focus on Ukraine, which remains at the forefront of international politics in the context of countering Russian aggression. Support from NATO and other nations is critically important for ensuring regional stability and Ukraine's continued fight for its sovereignty.
