Zelenskyy Vows to Strike Back at Russia, Stresses Urgent Need for Air Defense Systems.
Zelenskyy on Responding to Russia's July 2 Attack on Kyiv
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared the country's readiness to retaliate against Russian strikes until a just peace is achieved, while emphasizing a critical shortage of air defense systems. This statement followed a Russian attack on Kyiv on July 2, 2023. In the Darnytskyi district, approximately nine people may still be trapped under debris. Rescue teams have already saved 17 individuals, seven of whom were pulled from the wreckage.
Zelenskyy underscored the need for a fair resolution to the war, stating:
“We stand for a just peace, a fair end to the war. And until that happens, we stand for just responses.”He also highlighted shortcomings in international support:
“If partners had delivered on time what they promised, we could have saved homes and lives today. This is a major problem.”
Additionally, the president pointed to a lack of air defense resources, noting: “We simply do not have that quantity.” These remarks underline the pressing need for additional assets to protect Ukrainian cities from aggression. The situation in Kyiv, and the effectiveness of Ukraine's response, will depend heavily on the support the country can secure from the international community.
Zelenskyy's remarks capture a critical moment in the war in Ukraine, where repeated Russian attacks have made robust defense systems an urgent necessity. The call for stronger international backing is vital, as without it, Ukraine risks suffering severe losses. This crisis once again highlights the importance of global solidarity in modern conflicts.
