European leaders reacted to the open dispute between Trump and Zelensky and expressed support for Ukraine. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media that Ukraine is not alone. French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that Russia is the aggressor, and Ukraine suffers. He also noted that France is helping Ukraine and continues to impose sanctions against Russia. Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, also expressed solidarity with Ukraine. German politicians, including the future Deputy Chancellor, also stated that they support Ukraine and will not betray it.
Former US National Security Advisor John Bolton and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer criticized Trump's and Vance's positions. Bolton called their support for Russia 'a catastrophic mistake for America's national security.' Schumer stated that Trump and Vance are doing Putin's dirty work.
Entrepreneur Elon Musk, who supports Trump, agreed with the president and stated that Zelensky has destroyed himself in the eyes of the American people. He was responding to Republican Congressman Thomas Massie's comment about the possible end of Zelensky's presidency.
The meeting between Zelensky and Trump took place on February 28 and ended in a public quarrel. The agreement on mineral resources was not signed, and the joint press conference was canceled.
