Earthquake in Turkey: what is known about Ukrainians in the disaster zone.
According to inkorr.com: The Consulate General of Ukraine in Istanbul currently has no information on whether there are Ukrainians among those affected by the earthquake in Turkey. This information was provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, referring to data from 'Ukrinform'.
“Information regarding the presence of Ukrainian citizens among the affected has not been received by the Consulate General of Ukraine in Istanbul. At the same time, the institution continues to monitor the security situation,” the agency reported.
Details of the earthquake in Turkey
A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred in Turkey. It happened on the evening of October 27 in the city of Sindirgi, located in Balikesir province, at 10:48 PM local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of approximately 6 kilometers, and tremors were felt in neighboring provinces such as Istanbul and Izmir.
Situation with the victims
The Turkish Minister of Health Kemal Memisoglu stated that there have been no immediate casualties recorded from this earthquake, however, there are injured due to aftershocks. The injured have been hospitalized, but their condition was assessed by doctors as stable.
The consular establishments of Ukraine continue to monitor the situation and examine the possible presence of Ukrainians among the affected.
It is worth noting that powerful earthquakes in Turkey are not uncommon, and the country is actively working to ensure the safety of the population in such emergency situations.
