Military Registration for Female Medical Professionals: The TCC's Responsibility, Not the Employer's.
Military Registration for Female Medical Professionals in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: While women in Ukraine are not subject to mandatory military service, female doctors and other medical professionals can be placed on the military register. This process, however, is initiated solely by the Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC). For a woman in a medical field to be registered, she must first receive a summons from her local TCC.
Attorney Yuriy Aivazian emphasizes that a woman should not go to the TCC on her own to arrange registration. The employer's role in this process is strictly limited. An employer can only confirm that a woman is employed at a hospital or clinic. As the lawyer states,
"Your employer cannot send you from work to register for the military,"which confirms that the initiative lies with the TCC, not with the employer. This clarification is crucial for understanding the legal obligations of female medical personnel.
Understanding the Legal Status of Female Medical Workers
Therefore, the military registration of female medical professionals depends on actions taken by the Territorial Recruitment Center. Employers cannot initiate the process and are only authorized to verify a medical worker's employment. This distinction is vital for clarifying the rights and duties of women with medical education under the military registration system.
In the current context, where medical workers, including women, play a critical role in sustaining the healthcare system, clearly defining their legal status is paramount. Given the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the issue of registering women in medical professions has gained significant importance. This situation also highlights the necessity for clear coordination between medical institutions and military authorities to protect the rights of healthcare workers and ensure the effective delivery of medical aid during wartime.
