Veteranka Campaign Spotlights Four Female Soldiers' Combat Stories.
Launch of the 'Women Can Do Anything!' Communication Drive
According to Novyny.live: A new public awareness campaign titled 'Women Can Do Anything!' has been launched in Kyiv by the organization Veteranka. Running throughout March and April 2023, the initiative presents the real combat experiences of four servicewomen through a series of comic strips. The campaign's advertisements will be displayed across the Kyiv metro system, on city billboards, and on screens in shopping and entertainment centers.
The Project's Heroines
The campaign highlights the following four servicewomen:
- Eva, call sign 'Yunga,' an FPV drone operator who joined the military at age 18.
- Oksana 'Oksi,' the first female commander of a ground robotic combat group in the special forces unit 'OMEGA.'
- Ani Tatu, call sign 'Ksena,' who serves in the 37th Separate Marine Brigade.
- Yana, call sign 'Multik,' commander of a female UAV platoon in the 141st Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Campaign organizers state:
“The role of women in the military is not an exception, but a new, multifaceted norm.”They further emphasize that
“Her superpower is seeing in the dark and hitting a target that threatens our cities.”A special message highlights the personal story of one heroine who, despite living with a prosthetic limb, chose the front lines and earned the right to serve in the marines: “Her superpower is insane accuracy and the ability to be the first to spot a threat in the night sky, saving thousands of lives.”
The 'Women Can Do Anything!' campaign aims to underscore women's contributions to the military effort and shift public perceptions of their role in the army. It draws attention to how, even under the harsh conditions of war, women demonstrate strength, courage, and professionalism, setting a vital example for society. This initiative is part of a broader movement to challenge stereotypes about women in conflict, highlighting their crucial role in national defense. In modern warfare, where technology is paramount, the participation of women in combat operations has become increasingly visible and essential.
This campaign reflects a significant shift in a military landscape where women's roles are expanding beyond traditional support functions. The project 'Women Can Do Anything!' illustrates how women in the armed forces not only execute combat missions but also serve as an inspiration for new generations, as their stories can drive change in societal perceptions of gender roles.
