Cash Assistance Program Launches in Romny

According to Novyny.live: Starting March 20, 2026, residents of Romny in Sumy Oblast can register for a new cash assistance initiative run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Ukraine. The program targets the most vulnerable groups, particularly households with elderly members, and provides a total of 10,800 Ukrainian hryvnias per family—disbursed as 3,600 UAH per person each month over three months. To be eligible, a household’s monthly income must not exceed 6,300 UAH per person.

Who Can Receive This Support

The aid is available to the following categories:

  • Internally displaced persons with official status who have been displaced for no more than six months;
  • Refugees holding documents confirming departure and return;
  • Single-parent families;
  • Individuals aged 55 or older living alone;
  • Senior citizens;
  • People with disabilities.

Romny residents can register for assistance by calling 063 182 68 38. The intake office is located at 13 Soborna Street (the shelter near the TsNAP center). It operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with registration hours from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This UNHCR-backed effort aims to deliver critical financial relief to the most at-risk community members facing economic hardship and ongoing challenges.

The launch of this cash program in Romny highlights international organizations’ commitment to supporting socially vulnerable groups, especially amid economic instability and the aftermath of internal conflicts.

Such initiatives can significantly ease the financial burden on struggling households and help improve their quality of life.
