No negotiations will lead to peace if Putin sets the demands – ISW.

According to the report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Vladimir Putin has not changed his position regarding the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin confirmed its willingness to negotiate with the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump but emphasized that Putin remains steadfast in his positions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to Trump's proposal for a meeting with Putin, noting that Putin is open to contacts with international leaders and does not set any conditions. However, he confirmed that the Kremlin has a certain stance on Ukraine, which Putin expressed in June 2024 and reaffirmed in December.
According to ISW, in June 2024, Putin demanded the replacement of the President of Ukraine and called for denazification, demilitarization, and the transfer of part of the territory to Russia. This essentially meant a complete capitulation of Ukraine.
Analysts argue that any negotiations will not lead to lasting peace as long as Putin does not abandon these demands. It is worth noting that volunteer exchanges will not contribute to achieving peace, as they only indicate that the Russians will attempt to oppress Ukraine and evade their responsibility.
Earlier, it was reported that Trump is preparing for a meeting with Putin. He is also actively engaging with world leaders, but has not yet communicated with Putin.
