Military on the transfer of territories to Russia: this is treason.
According to ТСН: Any attempts or discussions regarding the official transfer of Ukrainian territories to Russia are unacceptable.
This was stated by the deputy commander of the Third Army Corps, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Maksym Zhorin in an interview with Kyiv24.
He noted that the military seeks an end to the war, but the current talks about negotiations have no real basis.
Zhorin emphasized that Russia will not back down from the demands it made at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
“With all due respect, but to date, Western partners cannot sufficiently pressure the Russian Federation to make it retreat or compromise. Ukraine is the only one that can do this today. And the place where this can happen is the battlefield,” he stressed.
Under what conditions is a truce possible
Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also pointed out that a cessation of hostilities may occur only in those areas where troops are stationed. He warned that such a truce will not be final.
In his opinion, a pause in hostilities will be temporary, and both sides will continue preparations for further actions.
Zhorin clarified that any official transfer of Ukrainian territories contradicts the Constitution and is unacceptable for the military.
“Can we transfer territories in the Constitution? No. The military personnel I am in contact with believe that this cannot happen. This is called state treason. Obviously, we need to stop. We will have to stop at the line where we will stand, but any attempts or talks regarding the official transfer of even a part of our territories — this cannot be discussed at all,” he concluded.
The issue of territories remains critical in the peace process. In particular, US President Donald Trump noted that “Ukrainians have already lost territory.” He also confirmed that the US is working with Europe to ensure security guarantees for Ukraine.
Maksym Zhorin's words emphasize not only the attitude of the Ukrainian military towards negotiations with Russia but also the importance of adhering to constitutional norms in the context of the peace process. The situation remains tense, and further developments will depend on how international partners and Ukrainians themselves respond to the challenges of the times.
