Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Igor Lehkij.

On May 25, 2023, Ukrainian military Igor Lehkij gave his life at the front. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.

Igor Lehkij was born on September 18, 1974, in Lviv. He studied at Lviv Secondary School No. 60. He initially received vocational education and later graduated from the Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture with a degree in 'Physical Education'. He later enrolled in the Lviv University of Trade and Economics, majoring in 'Law'.

Igor Lehkij worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine from 1995 to 2015.

He served as the head of the Lviv Territorial Department of Internal Security and Anti-Corruption.

Igor was an active athlete, engaging in football and weightlifting, regularly achieving prize places in competitions.

In 2015, he retired. According to relatives, he was a decent, honest, strong, fair, best husband, and a loving father. He always fought for the truth.

In 2020, Igor joined the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danilo of the 'West' Operational Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He was among the troops on the front lines during the Russian invasion.

In June 2022, Igor became the commander of the rifle division of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade named after Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. He performed important tasks in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions. For his diligent service, he received numerous awards, including those from the command of the Regional Defense Forces.

Igor Lehkij died on May 25, 2023. Farewell to the warrior took place in the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and his funeral was held at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. He was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Igor Lehkij left behind a wife and two children.

We remember those who fell at the hands of Russian invaders and light candles in memory. We pay tribute to the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state, including military, civilians, and children.
