According to inkorr.com: Several Ukrainian cities will receive funding for

the purchase of new public transport
– a total of 28 million euros. The European Investment Bank (EIB) has already allocated 46.1 million euros in loans for the development of urban infrastructure, transport, and energy-efficient projects in Ukraine. Part of this funding will go towards the purchase of buses. This was reported by the Ministry of Development of Ukraine.

Cities that will receive support

The EIB will finance four major programs being implemented in 13 cities:

  1. Dnipro
  2. Kam'yanske
  3. Kovel
  4. Kremenchuk
  5. Kyiv
  6. Lutsk
  7. Lviv
  8. Mykolaiv
  9. Rivne
  10. Ternopil
  11. Uzhhorod
  12. Zaporizhzhia
  13. Korets

Key areas of funding:

  • Energy efficiency of public buildings – insulation of facades, replacement of windows, modernization of heating systems in schools, kindergartens, and hospitals in three cities (4.8 million euros).
  • Modernization of public utilities – restoration of street lighting, updating of water supply systems, thermal modernization of educational institutions, and reclamation of landfills in five cities (13.3 million euros).
  • Transport renewal – purchase of
    buses, trolleybuses, and trams
for nine cities (28 million euros).

Support from the EU

The projects are funded under the Ukraine Facility initiative, supported by the European Commission. Its goal is to ensure the stable operation of municipal services even in wartime conditions.

Overall, the EIB has already provided over 168 million euros for the restoration of critical and social infrastructure – from transport systems to energy-efficient facilities.

This funding is an important step towards improving the quality of life for city residents, as the new public transport will help reduce traffic jams and ensure faster and more comfortable access to essential services. Additionally, investments in energy efficiency will contribute to reducing utility costs and preserving the environment.
