Winter Aid in Sumy Region: 800 Families Will Receive 19,400 Hryvnias Each.
According to inkorr.com: As the cold weather approaches, heating becomes especially important for residents of frontline territories. The Sumy region has launched a
winter aid projectby the charity fund “Stabilization Support Services” in collaboration with international partners, which provides for a payment of 19,400 UAH. This was reported by 24 Channel.
Who is Eligible for Winter Assistance in 2025
As part of the program 'Preparation for Winter and Support for Vulnerable People in Frontline Communities of the Sumy Region,' financial assistance is provided to residents of the Putivl and Chernichchyne communities. All those in need have already been identified and will receive support before winter.
In total, 800 households in the Sumy region, which amounts to about 1,760 people,
will receive material or fuel assistance.
What Kind of Assistance is Provided
The charitable initiative includes two primary types of support:
Cash assistance: 600 households will receive a one-time payment of 19,400 hryvnias, intended for the purchase of solid fuel or other heating sources.
Fuel assistance: 200 families will receive 3.42 tons of briquettes delivered to their homes.
Assistance with unloading is also provided for people with disabilities or those with limited mobility.
Who Belongs to the Category of Vulnerable Families
Priority assistance will be given to households that have:
elderly people or individuals with disabilities;
single parents with children or large families;
members of the family with limited mobility;
housing damaged as a result of shelling;
These categories are the most vulnerable to winter conditions in frontline regions.
Preparing for the Heating Season in Sumy
At the same time, the Sumy city authorities announced the start of the heating season on October 27, 2025. Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar explained that the decision was made earlier than planned due to the drop in temperature.
Who is Eligible for Benefits for Stove Fuel
Benefits for the purchase of stove fuel are available to residents of areas where hostilities have taken place or are taking place. The list of settlements is determined by the regional military administrations. It is also known that UNICEF
has announced a large-scale winter support planfor Ukrainians for 2025–2026, which includes allocating $65 million to assist 272,000 people, including 122,000 children.
Thus, the winter assistance program in the Sumy region aims to support the most vulnerable families in urgent need of help during the cold season. The organizations implementing this initiative aspire to ease the hardships and provide warmth in the homes of those who particularly need it.
