30 dogs in a one-room apartment. Animal welfare volunteers visited a resident of Zaporizhzhia.

In the city of Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement and municipal workers seized 30 dogs from a local resident. All these animals lived in a one-room apartment. This was reported by 'Suspilne Zaporizhzhia'.
At the beginning of February, Viktoriya Skilsara, an animal welfare volunteer and head of the public organization 'Animal Protection Service', told on social media about a man who keeps more than 20 animals in his home: 4 adult dogs, 13 young ones, and 13 puppies.
By a court decision, on February 13 at 14:45, 30 dogs were taken from the apartment of the local resident. Those that have reached the appropriate age will be sent for sterilization.
Anastasiya Proyavko, head of the animal protection sector of Zaporizhzhia City Council, stated that the majority of the animals are planned to be seized from the man, as they were not receiving proper care and were living in unsatisfactory sanitary conditions.
'The dogs are in very poor condition. They are generally not aggressive but are not socialized. That is, these dogs have never been outside. They do not know what a walk is and live, eat, and do all their needs in one place - in the apartment,' explained Proyavko.
The owner will be returned one sterilized and vaccinated dog, while the others will be given to volunteers and willing individuals for temporary care. The man himself did not want to give away the animals.
According to neighbor Olena, the man started collecting dogs a year and a half ago. The woman complains about the stench in the stairwell and notes that the man let the dogs 'relieve themselves' in the stairwell.
'I heard him kicking them himself. They are probably chewing on something of his. He has already torn them apart. They do not see a normal life. I love animals very much and see how they suffer, they are dirty and very hungry,' Olena said.
According to law enforcement, a criminal proceeding has been initiated under Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (cruel treatment of animals). This article provides for up to three years of imprisonment.
