788 thousand Ukrainians have utility debts: how to reduce electricity bills.
According to ТСН: Rising prices for utility services force Ukrainians to pay more attention to electricity expenses. Today, over 788 thousand citizens across the country have utility debts.
Electricity consumption of devices
Many home appliances continue to consume electricity even while in standby mode. Televisions, printers, and game consoles can consume up to 10 watts when not in use. This leads to significant monthly costs.
Coffee machines that remain plugged in after brewing coffee can waste up to 70 watts per hour.
Mini-refrigerators that operate unnecessarily can use up to 100 watts. If these devices are not used constantly, it's better to unplug them from the grid.
Smart home devices also consume electricity continuously. While one smart bulb or socket uses little, a large number of such devices significantly increases expenses.
Each device lists its power consumption. Experts recommend paying attention to these specifications and disconnecting appliances that are rarely used from the network, including bread makers or additional kitchen devices.
Insulating homes
With the onset of cold weather, Ukrainians are advised to insulate their homes, as up to 30% of heat can be lost through gaps in windows and doors. Simple insulation methods include using self-adhesive tape, V-shaped seals, or silicone sealant, which can help reduce heating costs by 5-30%.
In the context of rising utility rates, conscious electricity consumption and home insulation become important measures for reducing expenses. One should pay attention to household appliances and choose simple options for heat retention to not only save money but also improve comfort at home. Against the backdrop of increasing debts, it is important to remain responsible for one's expenditures and use resources wisely.
