New wave of attacks on the energy system: how to prepare for winter without electricity.
According to ТСН: As a result of new strikes by the Russian army on Ukraine's energy system, it is important for citizens to prepare for winter in conditions of possible prolonged power outages.
Winter preparation tips
The Center for Strategic Communications (CSC) has published recommendations on how to survive winter without electricity.
- Stock up on water: both drinking and technical. For household needs, store it in a dark and cool place.
- Stock up on non-perishable food for several days.
- Take care of the medications you need on a regular basis.
- Have cash and copies of important documents on hand.
- Don't forget about candles, flashlights, and battery-operated radios.
- Due to possible heating problems, insulate your home.
The CSC also suggested safe ways to heat premises.
They provided recommendations on how to cook during a blackout if you are using electric stoves or encounter gas problems.
They also proposed ways to maintain communication without electricity supply.
Note that if the temperature remains at -10°C or below for a week, it can lead to a critical situation in the energy system. Electricity consumption may exceed the capabilities of imports and domestic generation.
These recommendations become extremely relevant in the context of increasing threats to the energy system. It is important for every Ukrainian citizen to be ready for possible difficulties. The winter months can bring challenges, and preparing now will help cope with potential challenges in the future.
