Strategy for Ukraine's Victory: How Ending Oil Exports Will Stop the War.
Strategy for Ukraine's Victory
According to ТСН: The main goal of Ukraine is to destroy Russia's ability to export oil and gas. This, in turn, will affect the financing of the Kremlin's war.
This was stated by retired U.S. Lieutenant General Ben Hodges in his commentary.
“Russia will not be able to finance the war any longer. Ukraine continues to eliminate Russia's oil and gas infrastructure. I truly believe that the theory of Ukraine's victory lies in destroying Russia's ability to export oil and gas, which it needs to have money,” he said.
Hodges also emphasized that Ukraine is managing to strike Russian oil tankers in the Mediterranean Sea, as well as oil production platforms in the Caspian Sea.
According to him, strikes on these targets not only damage Russian oil infrastructure but also increase the cost of insurance for shipping companies servicing Russia's 'shadow fleet.'
Recently, the Security Service of Ukraine, using long-range drones, struck the third Russian oil production platform in the Caspian Sea.
In addition, the SBU first hit a tanker from Russia's shadow fleet with aerial drones in neutral waters of the Mediterranean Sea. This unprecedented special operation took place more than 2000 km from Ukraine's territory.
Ukraine's efforts to destroy Russian oil and gas infrastructure indicate the growing capabilities of Ukrainian forces and focus on strategic objectives. The results of such operations can significantly impact Russia's war financing and slow down its military activity. Additionally, similar attacks increase risks for Russian companies relying on maritime exports, which could become an important factor in future developments in the war.
