Attack on Putin's residence in Valdai: local residents did not hear explosions.
According to ТСН: Information about a possible massive attack by Ukrainian drones on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Valdai has raised doubts not only among analysts but also among local residents. Those living near the residence claim they noticed no signs of hostilities on the night of December 29.
This is reported by The Moscow Times, citing an investigation by journalists from the publication 'We Can Explain'. The journalists interviewed 14 residents of the Valdai region, and all unanimously stated that they heard no sounds of drones, explosions, or operation of air defense systems that night.
Furthermore, local authorities did not attempt to warn the population about any potential danger. Residents did not receive traditional SMS alerts about air threats that usually come during real attacks.
One of the interviewees noted the absurdity of the situation, emphasizing that if something like that were happening in their small town, it would undoubtedly become the main topic of discussion.
'There was neither buzzing nor explosions,' said an eyewitness.
Where the residence is located
Valdai is a small town with a population of about 14,000. Local residents are well aware of the events surrounding the elite facility. They usually know exactly when Putin is at his residence, which is located northeast of the town across a lake.
The president's presence is always accompanied by heightened security measures and helicopters that are hard to miss. However, this time, despite claims by Russian officials about a 'heroic repulsion of the attack', silence prevailed in Valdai.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) previously questioned the truthfulness of the statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding the attack on the residence, pointing to the lack of any visual evidence.
In this situation, it is important to note that reports of the attack attracted significant attention both in Ukraine and in Russia. However, as evidenced by the testimonies of local residents and experts, the reality may turn out to be quite different. Such incidents are often accompanied by a lot of misinformation, so it is important to try to sort out the facts.
