Fisherman Battles Two-Meter Great White Shark for 35 Minutes: Unique Video.
According to ТСН: 25-year-old fisherman Oscar Ford captured an amazing moment when a massive two-meter great white shark hooked onto his line. The man fought the predator for 35 minutes, and during the battle, the shark started biting the side of the boat, shocking onlookers.
Ford, along with his cousins, went fishing near Barwon Heads on the Bellarine Peninsula, where they were catching tuna and snapper. After a few hours of peaceful fishing, they released bait with a balloon, and suddenly Ford realized he had an incredible catch — hearing a loud splash and seeing a fin.
The man asked his cousins to turn on the camera, and soon this became an unforgettable event for everyone.
"Holy heavens," he exclaimed.
One of the cousins instantly reacted: "Grab the GoPro!" The fisherman faced off against the shark for about 35 minutes, initially mistaking it for a mako shark.
"It's a bloody white, holy heavens, I caught a great white shark near Barwon Heads! My God!"
In the video, you can see the shark swimming next to the boat, then trying to bite the side. Ford urged everyone to film:
"It's biting the boat, film this, film this! This is going to make the news, mate!"
One of the brave cousins even submerged the GoPro camera into the water to film the shark up close, capturing moments when the predator exposed its teeth.
Since sharks are protected, Ford decided to release his catch, and the animal swam away safely.
"I just couldn’t believe it, I thought — this is madness. I never imagined something like this could happen. I had so many emotions, so much adrenaline. I just felt on top of the world. As soon as we saw it, we went crazy — it was an incredible experience to see such a large, beautiful creature," Ford said.
He posted these unforgettable clips on his YouTube channel Flickin with Oz, and within a day, the video gathered thousands of views.
"Well done, guys! And it's great that you released it!" commented one impressed viewer.
Another added: "Wow! This stretch of coastline runs along the migratory and feeding corridor for seals — when the food disappears, the shark goes too. Great job!"
This incident comes against the backdrop of recent shark sightings near the state’s coastline. Shark attacks in Victoria are rare, and there hasn’t been a fatality reported in almost 40 years.
The research group OCEARCH recently caught a massive great white shark named Contender in the Atlantic, weighing about 750 kg and measuring 4.3 meters in length. Scientists consider this individual very valuable for science, as monitoring its movements could uncover secrets about the breeding of great white sharks, whose populations drastically declined in the last century.
