Brussels is Silent: The European Commission Ignores Musk's Provocations.
France has called on the EU to 'wake up' and stop Elon Musk, who is using his 'digital power' to pressure the continent's politicians, but Brussels and many capitals are not responding, fearing to harm Donald Trump and his ally Musk.
According to The Times, after President Macron condemned Musk for interfering in European elections, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot expressed France's dissatisfaction with the submissive response of the EU executive and many national capitals to the intervention of the owner of company X in European affairs, ZN.UA reports.
Several leaders opposed Musk, including Olaf Scholz, the outgoing Chancellor of Germany, and Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain.
'The richest man on the planet is openly attacking our institutions, inciting hatred, and openly supporting heirs of Nazism in Germany,' believes Sanders.
Others on the far right have sided with Musk. Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy and a Trump admirer, mocked the critics.
'I smile when I see those who once spoke of Musk as a genius now portray him as a monster simply because he chose a side that is considered 'bad' on the [leftist] barricades,' she said.
Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, and her technical policy team have remained silent as Musk, who is set to enter Trump's administration, has supported far-right parties, including 'Alternative for Germany' (AfD).
'Silence is a political choice at this moment, to avoid fueling these debates,' stated von der Leyen's spokesperson, Paola Pinho.
'The European Commission launched an investigation into company X in December 2023, but paused it after Trump’s re-election and postponed expected lawsuits under the Digital Services Act concerning potentially illegal content and misinformation. It also delayed penalties against Apple, which was inevitable ahead of Trump's re-election in November,' the newspaper stated.
