Support for the Ukrainian National Pantheon Project

According to Novyny.live: Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has endorsed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plan to establish a Ukrainian National Pantheon and urged the Verkhovna Rada to pass the relevant bill. President Zelenskyy has already submitted a draft law titled 'On the Ukrainian National Pantheon' to parliament.

Budanov emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating that

'this is a decisive and much-needed step toward restoring historical justice, consolidating our society, and building a foundation of memory for future generations.'
He further noted that
'no one will ever again dictate to Ukrainians which heroes to honor, which holidays to celebrate, or which history to study.'

What This Initiative Means

The presidential office head expressed confidence that Ukraine’s parliament recognizes the importance of this effort and will 'review and pass this bill as soon as possible.' The National Pantheon project coincides with the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Constitution, celebrated in 2022, and aims to strengthen national memory and identity.

Creating the Ukrainian National Pantheon represents a key step in forging national identity and preserving historical memory. The bill, already under consideration in parliament, could serve as a foundation for honoring outstanding figures who have significantly contributed to the country’s development. This initiative may also help unite society around shared values and heroes, thereby boosting national pride and consciousness.
