Over 6 Million Ukrainians Live in Active Combat Zones Across 10 Regions, Says Budanov.
High-Level Meeting on Supporting Frontline Areas
According to Novyny.live: On June 12, Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, convened a coordination meeting with government officials and lawmakers to address support for frontline territories. The discussion highlighted that more than six million citizens currently reside in active combat zones across ten Ukrainian regions. This situation demands urgent action to tackle the challenges emerging in these areas.
Budanov stressed that
“the problems must be resolved.”He proposed the formation of an interagency working group tasked with developing a comprehensive law on the special legal status of frontline territories.
“We are initiating the creation of an interagency working group to immediately draft a single, unified law on the special legal status and regulation of activities in frontline areas,”he stated.
Objective of the Initiative
The initiative aims to improve living conditions for residents facing severe hardships due to ongoing military operations. The need to support frontline regions has become increasingly urgent, given the large number of people who daily confront risks and challenges linked to the conflict.
Establishing an interagency working group and potentially granting a special legal status to these territories could fundamentally change how socioeconomic issues are addressed in these regions. This move also reflects the government's growing focus on security and social protection for populations affected by hostilities. Supporting such efforts may help stabilize the situation in Ukraine amid a prolonged conflict.
