Builders demand an increase in the minimum wage in the industry.
Construction companies set the minimum wage based on indicators determined by the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine. However, these indicators do not fully reflect the real conditions. This was discussed at a round table organized by the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine and the Business Ombudsman Council of Ukraine.
The head of the CBU, Lev Partskhaladze, emphasized the importance of solving this problem. Workers are not ready to work for such salaries, which complicates the construction process and leads to misunderstandings from regulatory authorities.
An anonymous survey of construction contracting companies was conducted to investigate the size of employee salaries. Participants also expressed their opinions on the formula for calculating salaries and other possible ways to regulate it. They were also asked about the coefficient for increasing salaries for workers in front-line territories, with most believing a one and a half times increase is fully justified.
New booking criteria have also been established, where the level of salary has become a mandatory criterion. If the salary is below 20 thousand hryvnias, it is impossible to book workers performing state orders.
Vice President of CBU Anatoliy Berkuta noted that a high salary level is necessary to attract specialists to the construction industry. The salary level should be based on the share of wages in the cost of work.
Discussion participants concluded that the minimum wage in construction should be set by the relevant ministry, especially when it comes to construction with state funds. It should be universal and sufficiently high to attract more professionals to the industry overall and for state orders.
Proposals will be submitted to the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine for further consideration.
