Czechia earned over 600 million dollars in aid to Ukraine: Fiala's data.
According to ТСН: Czechia spent less on supporting Ukraine than it received in taxes from Ukrainian refugees and compensations from the European Union.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Czechia, Petr Fiala, in a comment to journalists after the government meeting, which plans to resign due to the victory of the populist party ANO in the parliamentary elections. This party criticizes aid to Ukraine.
Expenses and Revenue
According to Fiala's calculations, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Czechia has allocated 91.3 billion crowns (over 4 billion dollars) in aid to Ukraine. This amount includes military assistance, economic diplomacy projects, and expenses for accommodating Ukrainian refugees.
At the same time, Ukrainian refugees paid taxes and health insurance contributions in Czechia amounting to 79 billion crowns (3.8 billion dollars).
Czechia also received a compensation from the EU for providing military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of about 25 billion crowns (1.1 billion dollars).
Therefore, Czechia not only did not incur losses due to assistance to Ukraine but also earned a profit of 12.7 billion crowns, which equals approximately 609 million dollars.
Future Changes
It should be noted that after a change in power in Czechia, the country may reconsider its approach to supporting Ukraine. The likely new Prime Minister, Andrej Babiš, is forming a government that, according to preliminary statements, may refuse military assistance to Kyiv.
This situation marks an important stage in the relations between Czechia and Ukraine. The changed political situation may influence further support, which, in turn, will be reflected in the broader picture of interaction between European countries and Ukraine during the crisis.
