Single Father from Kryvyi Rih Released from Military Unit, Plans to Challenge Draft Office Actions.
Single Father from Kryvyi Rih Released from Military Unit and Returns Home
According to Novyny.live: A man from Kryvyi Rih, who was mobilized despite being the sole caregiver for his five-year-old daughter, has been sent back home. He intends to legally challenge the actions of the military enlistment office. The mobilization occurred on June 8, 2026, and on June 29 of the same year, the man was detained and taken to the territorial center for recruitment (TCC).
After being drafted, the father applied for a deferment twice, but both requests were denied. He submitted his application for deferment on June 19, 2026. The fact that the child is financially dependent on the father could not be confirmed, as the mother abandoned the family three years ago. Notably, at the time of mobilization, the child was in kindergarten, as reported by Dmytro Lubinets.
Command Response and Gratitude
This situation was resolved thanks to the swift response from the leadership of the 475th Regiment. The man expressed his gratitude to the command for their support and for understanding his difficult circumstances. He stated:
'Good morning. Thank you to everyone who was worried about me. Thank you to the command of the 475th Regiment, where I reported. The command responded quickly to the situation and provided full support. I am grateful to those who brought attention to this case. Now I am home, and I will continue to pursue this matter to ensure it is fully resolved.'
It was also noted that divorce does not relieve the mother of her obligation to raise the child equally with the father, as stated by the TCC. The man plans to appeal the actions of the enlistment office to determine the legality of his mobilization given his family circumstances.
This case highlights the challenges single parents face during mobilization and underscores the importance of considering family situations in the conscription process. The military unit's responsive handling of the man's complaint could serve as a model for other instances where military duties intersect with personal circumstances. Media coverage of this incident is likely to fuel further discussion on the legal framework governing mobilization in Ukraine, especially regarding parents with dependent children.
