Merz on German troops in Ukraine: what the chancellor answered to a direct question.
According to ТСН: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz evaded a direct answer to the question about the possible dispatch of German troops to Ukraine as part of security guarantees after the war ends.
“In this world, there are issues that are not as simple as you might imagine. This issue is one of them. We are discussing security guarantees for Ukraine after the ceasefire,” Merz stated.
Furthermore, the Chancellor of Germany expressed the opinion that, in the event of security guarantees from the USA, Western peacekeepers may use force against Russian troops in case of a violation of the truce in Ukraine.
The importance of Merz's statements lies in the fact that they reflect the complex process of discussion on international commitments regarding Ukraine. The situation remains tense, and decisions regarding military assistance may significantly impact the further development of the conflict. Germany, as one of the key players in the Western bloc, has a decisive voice in shaping the new security architecture in Europe.
