Russian dictator Vladimir Putin did not meet with Telegram messenger co-founder Pavel Durov in Baku, reported Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

In response to journalists' questions about whether such a meeting took place, Peskov answered: "No".

The possibility of such a meeting was previously discussed after Durov's arrest in France. This became possible as Durov and Putin were simultaneously in Baku. Putin arrived in Azerbaijan on a state visit.

This opinion was also expressed by the head of the Centre for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD) of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko.

Recall that Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the Telegram messenger, was detained by French special services at Le Bourget airport. He was arrested after leaving a private jet when returning from Azerbaijan.

A statement on Telegram noted that Durov complies with EU laws, and his company has a clean reputation.

Durov's arrest and the subsequent fate of the social network Telegram concerned Russian propagandists and military analysts. This is because Russian occupiers use this messenger to organize operations in Ukraine. This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Also, the founder of the social network X Elon Musk sarcastically commented on Durov's arrest.
