Fuel Market Conditions in Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: On March 11, 2023, Ukrainian fuel station networks largely kept gasoline prices unchanged. The average cost of A-95 gasoline is 69.76 UAH per liter, A-95+ is 73.62 UAH per liter, and A-100 is 80.46 UAH per liter. Meanwhile, diesel fuel has become more expensive at some stations, with its average price now at 74.49 UAH per liter. The Ukrainian fuel market has been under strain for ten consecutive days, a situation exacerbated by the ongoing war and its impact on supply chains.

Prices for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) also shifted: they increased by 1 UAH at WOG stations and by 2 UAH at KLO stations. Market analysts are highlighting potential risks associated with the current market volatility.

In response, Yuliia Svyrydenko stressed that 'fuel prices must be formed without internal speculation.' Regarding future price trends, Serhii Kuyun noted that 'a rise in gasoline prices should not be expected in the near future.' Consequently, while the market situation is being managed, it requires careful monitoring to prevent instability.

Outlook for the Fuel Market

Amid global economic uncertainty and domestic challenges, Ukraine's fuel market shows signs of tension. The stability of gasoline prices, contrasted with the increase in diesel costs, suggests potential fluctuations in supply or demand for specific fuel types. Maintaining government oversight of the market remains crucial to curb speculation and ensure price stability for consumers during this period of national crisis.
