American loses 136 kg in a year: what is the carnivore diet and is it safe.
According to ТСН: An American named Patrick Ensley astonished everyone with his transformation: he lost weight and improved his quality of life by following a year-long carnivore diet, which involves consuming only meat and eggs.
Among the trendy diets that are gaining popularity, a new trend stands out for its complete rejection of fruits and vegetables. The carnivore diet prescribes the consumption of only animal products.
Patrick, who weighed 300 pounds (about 136 kg), decided to change his life. He started to consume a 16-ounce (about 450 g) steak, a pound of beef, and six eggs daily for a year.
A year on the carnivore diet: what has changed
Patrick regularly posted video reports on YouTube, showcasing his achievements. In ten months, he succeeded in reducing his waist size by 19 inches (48 cm) and his hip size by 12.5 inches (32 cm), which allowed him to switch to several sizes smaller pants.
He shared that his well-being significantly improved:
"The difference between that time and now is just insane. Now I come home and can throw my two-year-old son on the couch, toss him around, play with cars and trains – everything he loves – and still have energy left for my family."
Patrick also noted that he started sleeping better and wakes up refreshed instead of exhausted:
"I quickly began to feel better psychologically. I've found my purpose in life again."
His wife Kate also switched to the same diet and noted a significant boost in energy:
"Now I feel that I have the energy to work throughout the entire day. I can do so much more. It really is a big change."
Is the carnivore diet really healthy?
Experts warn that starting such a diet is not advisable without consulting a professional. According to recommendations from the British health service, a balanced diet should contain at least five portions of fruits and vegetables, sources of protein, and unsaturated fats. The daily limit for red or processed meat should not exceed 70 g.
Nutritionists emphasize that regular fiber consumption positively affects health, including gut function, the risk of developing diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Complete fiber exclusion can be dangerous.
A well-known case is that of Australian Andrew Taylor, who lost 52 kg by following a potato mono-diet. He normalized his blood pressure and blood sugar levels while also consuming spices and vitamins.
Thus, the carnivore diet draws attention as a new approach to nutrition. However, specialists urge caution and critical thinking, as complete rejection of plant products may lead to a number of health problems. Therefore, before starting any new diet, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
