Vadym Buryakovsky’s Sharp Remarks on Russian Performers

According to TSN.ua: Vadym Buryakovsky, the husband of Ukrainian singer Olya Polyakova, has openly criticized Russian artists Filipp Kirkorov and Grigory Leps for their support of Kremlin policies. In an interview on Dmytro Gordon’s channel, Buryakovsky condemned their actions and stance on the war in Ukraine. This interview adds to ongoing debates in Ukraine about the role of Russian cultural figures amid the conflict.

Buryakovsky has known Kirkorov since the singer’s tours in Kyiv. He described Kirkorov as a 'scumbag' but acknowledged him as a 'charming performer in social settings.'

'Kirkorov is a scumbag! But he’s a charming artist in company, otherwise a total scumbag. He’ll profess his love for you, and five minutes later, he’ll wipe his feet on you,' Buryakovsky stated.

He further emphasized that both Kirkorov and Leps have shown allegiance to Kremlin policies, calling them 'prostitutes.'

'Kirkorov is the most prominent, others are just less flashy but follow his lead. For me, the biggest scumbag among them is Leps. I’ve known him personally for a long time, outside of show business,' Polyakova’s husband stressed.

It is worth recalling that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, and the positions of Russian artists in this context remain a hot topic in Ukraine.

Buryakovsky’s comments reflect a broader sentiment in Ukrainian society toward Russian artists whose support for Kremlin policies sparks outrage among Ukrainians. These remarks highlight not only his personal views but also the wider discussion about the intersection of culture and politics in times of war, a debate that has intensified in Ukraine since the invasion began.
