Shooting Incident in Khmelnytskyi Region

According to TSN.ua: A domestic argument in the village of Zelena, within the Viitovetska territorial community, turned violent on February 14. While intoxicated, a man shot his 53-year-old wife with a hunting rifle. He then attempted to take his own life by shooting himself in the head.

Despite her injury, the wounded woman managed to call her daughter, who immediately summoned emergency services. Both individuals were hospitalized. The man has been formally notified of suspicion for attempted intentional homicide and has been taken into custody for the investigation's duration. He is currently under guard in the hospital.

Societal Concern Over Domestic Violence

This tragic event has sparked renewed public concern, as incidents of family violence continue to occur across the country. In a separate case from March 2024 in the Lviv region, a man was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for a double murder. This latest incident underscores the persistent and urgent need to combat domestic abuse and support its victims.
