The most polluted water bodies in Ukraine
Water pollution in our country is most often observed near industrial centers along the Dnipro River and in the Sea of Azov region. Leonid Bytsyura, a member of the Ukrainian Water Association Council, emphasizes that any human activity leads to the pollution of water resources. Waste, fertilizers, and garbage enter the soil and water, complicating the environmental situation.
Particular problems arise in flooded mines in eastern Ukraine due to combat activities and the lack of technical capabilities for pumping out water. In addition, regional cities along the Dnipro River face water pollution issues due to metallurgy and mining industries.
