Pensions May Be Stopped: Under What Conditions Payments Are Lost.

According to ТСН: In Ukraine, pensioners may lose their payments under certain circumstances. There are several reasons why pension payments can be suspended.

Reasons for Suspension of Pension Payments

As reported by the Main Department of the Pension Fund in the Chernivtsi region, pension payments can be stopped both by the decision of the territorial bodies of the Pension Fund and by court order. The law defines a number of conditions under which this can happen. Among them:

• establishment of the fact that the pension was granted based on documents containing false or inaccurate information;

• the pensioner's residence outside Ukraine for a certain period, unless otherwise specified by international agreements;

• submission by the pensioner of a statement about the suspension of pension payments due to temporary residence abroad;

• the death of the pensioner, their declaration as deceased, or being declared missing;

• assignment of a person the status of missing under special circumstances;

• non-payment of pension for six consecutive months;

• failure to undergo mandatory physical identification in cases provided for by law.

Restoration of pension payments is carried out by the territorial body of the Pension Fund within ten days after the reasons for their suspension have been eliminated.

However, if discrepancies are found in the documents during the inspection, based on which the pension was calculated, the Pension Fund may decide to review its amount and legal grounds for payment. Such a review is conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Law on 'Mandatory State Pension Insurance'.

It should be noted that the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, Danilo Getmantsev, stated that half of the pension may disappear. He emphasizes the need to reform the pension system as it does not meet the real needs of citizens.
