Earlier, the Lviv Administrative Court established that Holovko should be reinstated as head of the Ternopil Regional Council. Previously, Holovko was detained by law enforcement officers and was charged with extorting a bribe from a businessman in the amount of 2.4 million UAH.
Mykhailo Holovko reported that the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in Lviv satisfied his claim for reinstatement and payment of salary for the period of forced absence in the amount of 591 thousand UAH.
Holovko also stated that he would provide a comment when he returned to Ternopil from Lviv.
During the court session, Holovko and his lawyers argued that the extraordinary session at which the head of the regional council was dismissed was illegal. Therefore, the decisions made at this session are illegitimate.
The defenders believe that the deputies should have held an extraordinary session and coordinated all issues with the head. The dismissed head also stated that he believed that the deputies were holding a meeting, not a session. In addition, he believes that the deputies have turned against him because he has good relations with them.
Recall that in June 2023, the head of the Ternopil Regional Council Mykhailo Holovko and two deputies of the head of the Ternopil Military-Civil Administration were detained for receiving a bribe in the amount of 600 thousand UAH.
On June 26, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau detained the head of the Ternopil Regional Council Mykhailo Holovko and two deputies of the head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration Ihor Demianchuk (first deputy) and Ihor Haiduk on suspicion of receiving illegal benefits. According to the investigation, they demanded 1.8 million UAH from a volunteer.
