Russian drone damaged energy facility in Chernihiv region: power may be out for more than 12 hours

According to ТСН: On the morning of January 12, a Russian strike drone attacked an energy facility in the Novhorod-Siverskyi community of Chernihiv region. This has led to a possible prolonged electricity outage of more than 12 hours.

Andrii Podorvan, an advisor to the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported this during a broadcast on the Kyiv24 TV channel. He noted:

“We are talking about Novhorod-Siverskyi district, Novhorod-Siverskyi community. In the morning, a Russian strike drone damaged an energy facility, recovery work is ongoing.”

Duration of power outages in Novhorod-Siverskyi district

Podorvan estimated that residents of the community may be without electricity for more than 12 hours. He also mentioned:

“Moreover, we need to understand that there are also hourly schedules for power outages in the region. Today, it can be up to 12 hours without power. However, it is important to understand that if these schedules coincide with emergency outages, then in fact, a person may be without electricity for even longer.

At the same time, emergency work continues, taking into account the security situation. Energy workers continue to operate even in border communities.

Podorvan chose not to disclose information about the number of households without electricity to prevent the enemy from assessing the level of damage.

Situation with heating and water in Chernihiv region

However, residents of the region are currently provided with heating and water supply. He noted:

“Everyone is warm, all boiler houses are functioning. As for water supply – everything is also fine. If, of course, there are problems with electricity outages in a particular settlement for several hours according to schedules, then there are indeed problems with water supply in high-rise buildings. But the region and the city have been living like this for the fourth month now, so everyone basically understands what is what. Of course, there are emergency situations, that’s inevitable, as it is a communal service system. But these are pinpoint issues that are immediately addressed for repairs, restoration, and so on.”

It should be noted that the Russian army attacked the civilian infrastructure of Novhorod-Siverskyi on the morning of January 12. According to Chernihivoblenergo, as a result of the shelling, a significant energy facility was damaged, which led to the disconnection of several settlements.

This incident has become another confirmation of the aggressive actions of Russian military forces, which directly affect the lives of the civilian population. Emergency power outages highlight the difficult situation in the region's energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, local energy workers are working on restoring electricity supply to ensure that residents are provided with everything necessary.
