Duda named the only option to end the war in Ukraine.

The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, stated that a Russian victory in the war against Ukraine is impossible. He emphasized that a just peace is needed to prevent the emergence of new conflicts in the future.
'From the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the war in the east of the country is of great importance for our security. We believe that Russia will not be able to win this war. We need to end it with a just peace that will prevent the emergence of new conflicts in the future,' Duda stated in his New Year address.
The President also noted that the security of Poland is based on two main aspects: a strong army and alliance solidarity. He expressed support for his proposal to increase NATO countries' defense spending to 3% of GDP, which he presented in Washington in March last year.
'I am very pleased that more and more countries are joining my initiative. Only a strong NATO alliance, with the US at the helm, can ensure the security of Poland and our region,' Duda said.
The President expressed the conviction that without the involvement of the United States, there is no security in Europe. Therefore, the main task of Poland's presidency in the EU in the first half of 2025 is to strengthen cooperation between the EU and the US.
