EU approved a statement of support for Ukraine ahead of Trump's meeting with Putin: details

The European Union expressed support for Ukraine ahead of the planned summit between Trump and Putin in Alaska. The statement was supported by 26 EU leaders, except for Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who refused to join it.

EU leaders recognized Donald Trump's efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine and emphasized the importance of upholding international law and territorial integrity. EU countries also promised to continue coordinating with other partners to provide assistance to Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity.

By not joining the statement in support of Ukraine, Viktor Orban explained his refusal by stating that he does not wish to dictate from the 'reserve bench'.

The European support ahead of the Trump-Putin meeting may positively affect cooperation among countries regarding the situation in Ukraine, security support, and peaceful resolution of the conflict in the region.
