Europe Needs Thousands of Air Defense Systems: How to Protect Airspace.
Europe Needs New Systems to Protect Against Russian Drones
According to inkorr.com: European countries are facing a shortage of defense systems capable of protecting them from potential attacks by Russia. This issue has become particularly relevant against the backdrop of numerous incursions of Russian drones into the airspace of the region. The CEO of MyDefence, Dan Hermansen, notes that to create an effective 'drone wall', thousands of new systems need to be installed.
The number of installations required for protection is enormous, while what exists today is very few.
Hermansen called for significant investments in these technologies to ensure adequate protection of Europe's critical infrastructure. He also noted that other countries are already showing interest in acquiring systems successfully used by the Ukrainian military to combat Russian drones.
Europe Faces Threats from Russian Drones
Not long ago, Russian drones attacked several European cities, including northern Aalborg in Denmark, which led to the temporary closure of airspace. This incident once again highlighted Europe's vulnerability to such threats.
Airports worldwide have forgotten about this threat. For years, this issue has been overlooked, but now airports have become very vulnerable.
In Copenhagen, new security measures are being implemented, including a ban on the use of drones throughout the country and increased security using modern technologies. However, experts warn that Russia may find ways to bypass these restrictions and test Europe’s defense systems.
Ukraine is Ready to Cooperate on the 'Drone Wall' Project
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier proposed an initiative to strengthen air defense in collaboration with allies. The European Union plans to improve drone detection capabilities within a year, however, establishing a complete defense network on land and at sea will take significantly more time.
The threat of attacks by Russian drones in Europe is becoming increasingly pressing, emphasizing the need for urgent measures to enhance security levels. Countries are seeking new ways and technologies to counter this threat, yet it should be remembered that Russia may quickly adapt its attacking methods.
