Norwegian Financial Aid for Vulnerable Ukrainians: Registration Open Until February 25.
Registration for Cash Assistance Program
According to Novyny.live: The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) will begin accepting applications for a cash assistance program aimed at vulnerable households in Ukraine starting February 16. This initiative is designed to support individuals impacted by the ongoing war. The registration period is short, running only until February 25, with online registration opening at 12:00 PM Kyiv time.
In 2025, the NRC provided aid to over 169,000 people in Ukraine. This new phase of the program aims to assist approximately 79,000 individuals. To qualify for payments, internally displaced persons (IDPs) must have a total household income below 10,380 Ukrainian hryvnias. For context, the subsistence minimum for people who have lost their ability to work is currently 2,595 hryvnias.
Vulnerability Criteria for Registration
Applicants must meet one of the following three primary vulnerability criteria to register:
- The household must reside in an area where active hostilities are taking place;
- Applicants must have been forced to leave their homes due to the war;
- The family must have returned to territories recently liberated from occupation.
Additionally, all applicants must be physically present within Ukraine's borders. These requirements are intended to ensure aid reaches those in the most urgent need. This targeted approach is common in humanitarian responses to complex crises.
This program from the Norwegian Refugee Council represents a crucial step in supporting vulnerable segments of the Ukrainian population affected by the war.
Given the escalating needs of those who have endured the conflict, this financial support aims to alleviate their immediate situation and foster recovery. The brief, nine-day registration window underscores the urgency of addressing the severe daily challenges faced by affected families.
