The government is returning cash compensation for the 'baby package'

The government has decided to restore cash compensation for the 'baby package', which was suspended since January 1. This was announced by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

According to the MP, a special system will be created by September 2025 that will facilitate the accounting of payments and aid. It is also noted that the funds can only be spent in special stores participating in the program, and payments will be processed through 'PrivatBank'.

The baby package can be received not only by biological parents, but also by adoptive parents, guardians, foster parents, and caregiver parents. Assistance is provided in the maternity hospital after the birth of the child. If the package is temporarily unavailable, parents can apply for it at the social protection authorities or the Administrative Services Center at their place of residence within 30 calendar days.

There is also an option to receive cash compensation instead of the 'baby package'. Applications and documents must be sent by mail to the relevant structural unit for social protection of the population or during the provision of the comprehensive service 'eMaljatko'. Compensation is appointed if the application for it was submitted no later than 12 months from the date of birth of the child.

The amount of cash compensation is three living wages for children under the age of six, established as of the date of birth of the child - 7,689 UAH. The money is transferred to a special account of the recipient.
