Khrystyna Soloviy Declines to Perform at Stepan Giga Memorial Concert.
Singer Withdraws from Tribute Event for Late Ukrainian Artist
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian singer Khrystyna Soloviy will not be performing at a memorial concert for Stepan Giga, scheduled for March 28 at Kyiv's Palace of Sports. Soloviy stated that she was unaware she had been included on the list of invited artists for the event.
Stepan Giga, a prominent Ukrainian singer, experienced health issues beginning in the autumn of 2025. He was hospitalized in late November of that year, where his condition deteriorated. Giga passed away on December 12, 2025, and was laid to rest on December 15 at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
Soloviy's Statement on the Matter
In her comment, Khrystyna Soloviy emphasized her deep respect for Stepan Giga's artistry and legacy. However, she clarified that she had not been informed about the concert's organization or her invitation to participate, leading to her decision to withdraw.
"This is an important event, but I was not informed." - Khrystyna Soloviy
Soloviy's refusal to participate highlights the critical role of clear communication in planning cultural events. Such oversights can lead to misunderstandings between artists and organizers, potentially affecting the planning of future tributes. Memorial concerts like this one hold significant meaning for fans wishing to honor an artist's contribution. Stepan Giga left a substantial mark on Ukrainian music, and events commemorating his work are important for his audience.
