Analysts stated that Vladimir Putin is attempting to distort the data on the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. They explained that this might be connected to his desire to demonstrate to the Russian audience that Russian troops can suppress the Ukrainian invasion in Kursk region.

The analysts' report indicates that Putin is exaggerating Russia's successes in the Kursk region. They also recalled that the Russian Ministry of Defense has not confirmed the alleged "penetration of Russian troops into Ukrainian positions." The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, refuted Putin's information about the encirclement of Ukrainian fighters.

Additionally, Putin does not acknowledge that the Ukrainian front line in Kursk region starts from the border with Russia, and Ukrainian military personnel can freely cross border areas controlled by Ukraine.

According to the estimates of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the losses of Russian troops in the Kursk region amount to 17,819 personnel.

The institute's analysis shows that regardless of the possibility of confirming the Ukrainian side's data, reports from Ukrainian sources indicate the activity of Ukrainian troops in this region.

"Putin's exaggerated statistics on Ukrainian losses are likely part of his attempt to explain Russia's inability to decisively repel the Ukrainian invasion in the Kursk region almost three months on, in the context of the likely imminent deployment of North Korean troops to conduct combat operations in this region," reads the analysis.

Analysts also assessed the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region.
