According to TSN.ua: A critical power shortage means Kyiv and its surrounding region will receive electricity for only one and a half to two hours per day in the coming days. This severe situation stems from a Russian missile attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on February 7, compounded by the forced reduction of output at nuclear power units. These attacks are part of a wider campaign targeting Ukraine's civilian energy grid, which has caused extensive damage over the past two winters.

The overnight assault damaged high-voltage substations and two thermal power plants, drastically reducing the region's electricity supply capacity. DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, has stated that limiting consumption is a necessary step to preserve the integrity of the national grid, confirming the infrastructure's critical state. Energy workers warn of difficult days ahead, as repairing the damaged stations will require significant time and effort.

'The most difficult situation is in Kyiv. Due to prolonged strikes on infrastructure, electricity is currently available for only one and a half to two hours a day,' DTEK noted.
