Klitschko: heat supply in Kyiv to resume this evening.
According to ТСН: This evening, municipal services plan to restore heat supply to a number of apartment buildings in Kyiv that have been left without heating following a recent massive attack on critical infrastructure. Currently, about 6 thousand apartment buildings in the capital are without heat due to damage to the networks.
The situation in the city
Mayor Vitali Klitschko emphasized that the situation remains complicated but controllable. Utility services and energy specialists are working in an intensified mode to restore life-supporting systems.
“Half of Kyiv's apartment buildings — nearly 6 thousand — are currently without heat supply due to damaged elements of critical infrastructure. We hope to supply heat to some houses already this evening,”he noted.
Meanwhile, the city is experiencing water supply interruptions. As of 4:00 PM, water supply has already been restored in the Pechersk district, and systems on the left bank are gradually resuming operation.
Klitschko also noted that due to the lack of electricity, some upper floors of buildings may have insufficient pressure in the pipes, as booster pumps require electrical power.
“In Kyiv, more than 1200 heating (resilience) points have been prepared where people can warm up, receive hot drinks, food, charge their phones, power banks, and other gadgets. This autumn, their number has increased: almost 200 heating and charging points are now operating in the city's shopping centers,”he added.
The mayor urged residents of Kyiv, who have light and heat, to show solidarity and help their neighbors with cooking or heating.
Attacks on infrastructure
It should be reminded that as a result of the massive attack, problems with heat and water arose in Kyiv. During the strike, the enemy deliberately targeted boiler houses, leading to power outages and interruptions in water supply due to damage to substations and lines.
Due to the nighttime attack, emergency light outages were initially implemented on the left bank of Kyiv, while on the right bank, electricity supply remained scheduled. DTEK energy specialists are working to restore heat and light, focusing efforts on critical infrastructure.
Additionally, further deterioration in weather conditions is expected in Kyiv, which may lead to additional transport problems and increased injuries.
In this situation, it is important not only to restore services but also to support each other. Kyiv residents who have the ability can contribute to creating comfortable conditions for their neighbors, as together we can more easily endure these challenging times. At the same time, authorities continue to work on restoring delayed communications to improve the situation in the city.
