Klitschko removed his deputy Prokopiv after Bihus investigation and appealed to law enforcement.
Klitschko suspended the deputy head of KCSA Prokopiv after journalists' investigation
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko decided to suspend Volodymyr Prokopiv from fulfilling the duties of deputy head of KCSA during the period of verification of the facts mentioned by the investigative journalists of Bihus Info, as he reported on his Telegram channel.
Klitschko appealed to law enforcement and anti-corruption authorities to verify the information provided by journalists regarding Prokopiv.
"I am appealing to law enforcement and anti-corruption authorities to verify the facts stated by investigative journalists Bihus.Info regarding the deputy head of KCSA Volodymyr Prokopiv. Also, during the verification period for its objectivity, I am removing Prokopiv from fulfilling the duties of deputy head of KCSA with self-government powers," Klitschko said.
Prokopiv himself submitted a resignation letter, noting that he never clung to the position of deputy head of KCSA.
"I never clung to the position of deputy head of KCSA, so I wrote a resignation letter," he noted.
Prokopiv emphasized that reputation and the honest name of his family are important to him.
"I understand the reasons for the interest in my person, as the head of the largest faction in Kyiv City Council. I continue to work," he wrote.
Journalists from Bihus Info published an investigation about Prokopiv, claiming that his friends acquired ownership of six real estate properties that were previously municipally owned.
Note that Prokopiv has been a deputy of Kyiv City Council since 2014 and Klitschko's deputy since 2021.
